host0 vs Static.app: a free plan, private links and shared data

host0 vs Static.app: a free tier or a 7-day trial, links that start private or a password on a public site, shared data or forms. Agents and price.

The short answer

Choose host0 if you want to keep sharing without a paid plan, if what you share should stay private until you invite people by email, if your agent built an app that needs shared data, or if you publish from claude.ai and want the agent to do it inside the chat. Choose Static.app if you're hosting client or business sites and want a custom domain, daily backups, an in-browser editor, a desktop app that publishes a folder on every save, or a workspace with seats for your team. Free plan, no card. Pro is $19 a month.

Choose host0 if

Recommended
  • You want to keep a link up without paying: Static.app's free option is a 7-day trial, then a paid plan.
  • You want links that are private by default and open to the people you invite by email, with no password to pass around.
  • Your agent built a small app — a tracker, a todo list, a sign-up sheet — and the team should read and write the same data.
  • You work in claude.ai, Claude Code, Cursor or Codex and want the agent itself to publish, with a device login instead of an API key pasted into a config.
  • You want every deploy saved as a numbered version you can restore in one click, and the page kept out of search unless you opt in.

Choose Static.app if

  • You need a custom domain today, with DNS and SSL set up for you (every paid plan).
  • You manage sites for clients and want workspaces with roles and paid seats, daily backups you can preview, and files up to 1 GB.
  • You'd rather edit in the browser or keep a local folder synced by the desktop app for Mac and Windows than ask an agent.
  • You want a public Claude artifact link turned into a site, or a live site copied over, without downloading anything.
  • You want short links, QR codes, form capture, webhooks and a GitHub Action from one host.

At a glance

host0 is better on 5 of 13 topics, and Static.app on 3.

Free plan
host0

Better: A free plan with no time limit: private links, email invites, shared data and visit totals, 3 MB per file and 500 MB in total, with a small "Hosted on host0" badge.

Static.app

A 7-day trial with no card: one site, 50 MB of storage, a static.domains address. After that, publishing needs a paid plan.

Price
host0

Free plan, or Pro at $19 a month ($190 a year) without the badge, with 50 MB per file and 10 GB.

Static.app

Starter $6 a month (2 sites), Medium $12 (7 sites, 1 seat), Large $18 (30 sites, 3 seats); yearly billing is $60, $120 and $180.

How you publish
host0

Your agent publishes with the skill or the CLI, or you drop a folder or file on the dashboard. Redeploys upload only the files that changed.

Static.app

Better: Drop a ZIP or files, import a public Claude artifact link, copy a live site by its URL, edit code in the browser, or sync a folder with the desktop app.

From your agent
host0

A skill and a CLI that publish from claude.ai, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or any agent with a shell, signed in by device login. An OAuth MCP server manages apps but doesn't deploy.

Static.app

An MCP connector that deploys and edits single files, with an API key in a header; its own page says claude.ai and ChatGPT mostly can't use it. Also a REST API and a GitHub Action.

Who can open it
host0

Better: Private by default on every plan. Only you can open a new link until you invite people, open it to anyone with the link, or make it public.

Static.app

Sites are public on their address. Private pages use a password, on one page or the whole site.

Sharing with viewers
host0

Better: Invite people by email. They sign in with an email code or Google; removing someone cuts access on their next request.

Static.app

One password for everyone who should see a private page. No viewer accounts or per-person access.

Teams that manage sites
host0

One owner per app today. Team workspaces, where several people publish and manage apps, are planned.

Static.app

Better: Workspaces per client with invited teammates and role-based permissions: 1 seat on Medium, 3 on Large, more at $5 a month each.

Shared data
host0

Better: Shared records your app reads and writes on its own URL, with rules for who can read, add or change them. No server code.

Static.app

Forms: add one attribute and submissions land in the dashboard to export or forward. The page can't read them back.

What it hosts
host0

Sites and folders, HTML, PDFs, images, video, audio, Markdown and text, with a viewer for files opened on their own.

Static.app

Static sites from a ZIP, plus images, videos, docs and PDFs; up to 1 GB per file on paid plans (50 MB on the trial).

Versions and undo
host0

Every deploy is a numbered version; restore any one in a click. 30 days of version history on Pro, the live version on Free.

Static.app

Daily and manual backups, 365 kept per site, with preview and one-click restore. Included for 3 sites on Large, $5 a month per site otherwise.

Analytics
host0

Cookieless analytics on every app: total visits on Free, full analytics (full, 90 days) on Pro.

Static.app

Server-side analytics with no script or cookies, including a mode that keeps no IP addresses. Paid plans only.

Custom domains
host0

Not yet. Custom domains are coming to Pro.

Static.app

Better: On every paid plan: buy or connect a domain, with DNS and SSL set up for you.

Search engines
host0

Better: Never indexed unless you make an app public on the web. A link anyone can open stays out of search.

Static.app

Sites are public and open to search engines; its Claude page lists being indexed by Google as a benefit.

Static.app is a static website host run by Designmodo, the company behind the Slides and Postcards builders, on the web since 2019. You drop a ZIP, images or PDFs and get a site on static.domains or your own domain, and it has grown a long list of hosting features: forms, analytics, backups, short links, a desktop sync app, workspaces, a REST API and an MCP connector for agents.

host0 does the last step for whatever your agent made — HTML, a site, a PDF, Markdown, an image — with three different defaults. It has a free tier rather than a trial. A new link is private: only you can open it until you invite people by email, open it to anyone with the link, or make it public on the web. And because the people you invite sign in as themselves, an app can keep shared data that knows who wrote what, which a form that only collects submissions can't do.

A free plan or a free week

host0

host0 has a free plan with no card and no end date: private links, email invites, shared data and visit totals, with a small "Hosted on host0" badge. Pro is $19 a month or $190 a year and removes the badge, raises the limits to 50 MB per file and 10 GB, and keeps 30 days of version history.

That matters for things you share and forget: a deck sent to a client, a PDF in an email, a tool the team opens once a month. The link keeps working.

Static.app

Static.app's free option is a 7-day trial with no card: one site, 50 MB of storage and a free subdomain, without analytics, forms or a custom domain. After the trial, publishing needs a paid plan.

The paid plans are inexpensive for what they include — Starter is $6 a month, or $5 a month billed yearly, for 2 sites, a custom domain, analytics and forms — and add-ons cover more sites, storage, seats and backups.

Who can open the link

host0Better

A new app on host0 is private. Opening the link sends anyone but you to a sign-in page, so a half-finished page, a client deck or an internal dashboard isn't on the open web just because it has a URL.

When it's ready you choose: invite specific people by email, open it to anyone with the link (unlisted, never indexed), or make it public on the web so search engines can find it. Invited people sign in with a one-time code or Google, and removing one of them ends their access on their next request without touching anyone else.

Static.app

Static.app sites are public on their address, and search engines can find them; its Claude hosting page presents being indexed by Google as a reason to move an artifact there. For something that shouldn't be public, Private Pages put a password on a page or a whole site.

A password is one secret for everyone. Anyone who has it can pass it on, and taking one person's access away means changing it for all of them.

Shared data or form capture

host0Better

Ask your agent for a team todo list, a habit tracker or a sign-up sheet, and it can declare collections in an h0.json file next to the page. The app then reads and writes records on its own URL — with no server code, no API key in the page and no database to set up.

Each collection says who can read, add, change or delete, and records can belong to the person who made them. A collection that anyone can add to but only you can read works as a form; the owner can export everything as JSON at any time.

Static.app

Static.app's forms are simple to add: put the static-form attribute on an existing form, and submissions appear in the dashboard, where you can export them or forward them to another service.

That covers contact and lead forms. The data goes one way, though — the page can't read submissions back, so an app where people see and edit each other's entries needs a backend from somewhere else.

Publishing from your agent

host0

Give your agent the host0 skill and say "deploy to host0". With no key yet, it shows you a link and a short code; you approve it in your own browser, and the agent gets its key without you typing anything personal into the chat. That works in claude.ai's sandbox as well as in Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and any agent with a shell.

There's also a CLI and a REST API. The MCP server signs in with OAuth and manages apps — listing them, sharing, changing who can open them, restoring versions — but publishing goes through the skill.

Static.app

Static.app's MCP connector does more inside a single tool: it creates and replaces sites from a ZIP, and reads, writes and deletes individual files. It authenticates with an account API key sent in a header, which suits Claude Code, Codex, VS Code, Gemini CLI and n8n.

Its own MCP page says ChatGPT can't send that key and claude.ai can only in a limited beta, so most chat users can't connect it. For them, Static.app offers a different path: share the Claude artifact publicly and paste its link into Import from URL.

Hosting features

host0

host0 keeps the hosting side small: an address on host0.app for each app, numbered versions with one-click restore, cookieless analytics and a viewer for PDFs, images and other files opened on their own. There are no custom domains yet — they're coming to Pro — and no in-browser editor; changes go through your agent, which can pull an app's files back to update it from another chat.

Static.appBetter

This is where Static.app is ahead. Every paid plan gets custom domains with DNS and SSL handled, an in-browser code editor, short links and QR codes, webhooks and a GitHub Action, and a desktop app for Mac and Windows publishes a local folder on every save.

Backups take a daily snapshot, keep 365 per site and let you preview one as a working site before restoring it. Workspaces separate client sites, with invited teammates and roles.

Questions

Is host0 a Static.app alternative?

For sharing what an agent made, yes — with a free tier, links that start private, and shared data for small apps. Static.app is still the better pick for client sites that need a custom domain, backups, an in-browser editor or team seats today.

Does Static.app have a free plan?

It has a 7-day free trial with no card, for one site with 50 MB of storage. After that, publishing needs a paid plan, from $6 a month or $60 a year.

Can I publish from claude.ai to host0?

Yes. Add the host0 skill and ask Claude to deploy; it starts a device login, you approve a short code in your browser, and Claude publishes from its sandbox. host0 doesn't import a Claude artifact by its share link yet — Static.app does.

Can I password-protect a page on host0?

host0 doesn't use shared passwords. A private app asks visitors to sign in, and only the emails you invited get in. You can remove one person without changing anything for the rest, which a password can't do.

Can host0 collect form submissions like Static.app forms?

Yes, as records: declare a collection in h0.json that anyone can add to and only you can read, and the page posts to it on its own URL. You read and export the entries from the dashboard or the API. The same app can also show entries back to the people you invite.

Can I move a site from Static.app to host0?

Yes. Download the site as a ZIP from Static.app, unzip it, and ask your agent to deploy the folder to host0 — or drop the folder on the dashboard. The link starts private; share it or open it when you're ready. Form entries stay in Static.app's form manager to export.
