host0 vs ShipStatic: teammates by email, not a password per deploy

host0 vs ShipStatic: apps that start private and open to people you invite by email, or public sites with a password per deploy. Agents, data, domains, price.

The short answer

Choose host0 if what you share should stay private until you say so, if people should open it as themselves rather than with a shared password, or if your agent built an app that needs shared data. Choose ShipStatic if your agent should publish before you have an account, if you publish from ChatGPT, or if you want a custom domain today for a few dollars a month. Free plan, no card. Pro is $19 a month.

Choose host0 if

Recommended
  • You want every new link to be private by default, on every plan, the free one included.
  • You want to invite people by email and remove one of them later without changing anything for the rest.
  • Your agent built a small app — a tracker, a todo list, a sign-up sheet — and everyone should read and write the same data.
  • You share PDFs, images and other single files as they are, without wrapping them in a page first.
  • You want to see who opened the link, and keep it out of search unless you choose to make it public.

Choose ShipStatic if

  • Your agent should publish before anyone signs up: no account, and a claim link keeps the site.
  • You publish from ChatGPT, or want one MCP address that works in Claude, Cursor, Windsurf and VS Code.
  • You need a custom domain today, from $4.99 a month.
  • Several people publish and manage the same sites: the Team plan has up to 5 members.
  • You deploy from CI and want pull-request previews from a GitHub Action, or an SDK.

At a glance

Which one fits depends on what you're sharing: each row marks the one that's ahead.

Who can open it
host0

Better: Private by default on every plan. Only you can open a new link until you invite people, open it to anyone with the link, or make it public.

ShipStatic

Public by default: every deployment opens at its own address. A password is free on every plan and is set when you publish.

Sharing with a team
host0

Better: Invite people by email. They sign in with an email code or Google; removing someone cuts their access on their next request.

ShipStatic

One password per deployment; changing it means publishing again. Team members (up to 5) share the account to publish, not to view.

Shared data
host0

Better: Shared records your app reads and writes on its own URL, with rules for who can read, add or change them. No server code.

ShipStatic

None: static files only. An app that needs data brings its own backend, such as Supabase.

From your agent
host0

A skill and a CLI publish from Claude (claude.ai included), Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or any agent with a shell. The MCP server manages apps but doesn't publish. No ChatGPT publishing yet.

ShipStatic

Better: A hosted MCP server that publishes with no account, a ChatGPT app, a plugin for Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and Gemini CLI, plus a CLI, SDK, GitHub Action, VS Code extension and n8n node.

Account and sign-in
host0

An account first, by email code or Google. An agent gets its key through a device login you approve in your browser.

ShipStatic

Better: Publish with no account: the site stays up for 3 days, and a claim link makes it yours. Sign-in is Google or an email link.

What it hosts
host0

Better: Sites and folders, HTML, PDFs, images, video, audio, Markdown and text. A lone file gets its own link, with a viewer when opened in a tab.

ShipStatic

Static sites. Every deploy needs an index.html, so a lone PDF or image needs a small page that links to it. Single-page app routing is set up for you.

Versions and undo
host0

Every deploy is a numbered version; restore any one in a click. 30 days of version history on Pro, the live version on Free.

ShipStatic

Better: Every publish is a snapshot with its own address: the last 100 kept on Free, 1,000 on Pro. Roll back by pointing a domain at an earlier one.

Analytics
host0

Better: Cookieless analytics on every app: total visits on Free, full analytics (full, 90 days) on Pro.

ShipStatic

None built in.

Search engines
host0

Never indexed unless you make an app public on the web. A link anyone can open stays out of search.

ShipStatic

A deployment's own address is never indexed. A ShipStatic name or custom domain is, unless you add a noindex header.

Where sites live
host0

Better: Apps live on host0.app, a separate domain from host0.ai, where your account and dashboard are.

ShipStatic

Sites live on shipstatic.com, the same domain as its account console at my.shipstatic.com.

Custom domains
host0

Not yet; custom domains are coming to Pro. Every app gets its own address on host0.app that you can rename.

ShipStatic

Better: From Pro: 3 custom domains (15 on Team) with HTTPS and a DNS setup page you can forward. Free gets one name like yoursite.shipstatic.com.

Free plan limits
host0

3 MB per file, 500 MB in total, many apps; 10,000 visits a month (a soft limit: it never blocks).

ShipStatic

Better: 20 MB per file, 50 MB and 500 files per deploy, the last 100 deployments kept. No bandwidth or visit limits (fair use).

Price
host0

Free plan with private links, email invites and shared data. Pro is $19 a month or $190 a year.

ShipStatic

Better: Free plan, password included. Pro is $4.99 a month ($49.90 a year) for custom domains; Team is $19.99 a month for 5 members.

ShipStatic is a static host, running since 2025, built for agents. Drop a folder on its homepage, run one npx command, or add its MCP address to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, and a site is live on shipstatic.com with no account. The site stays up for three days unless you claim it; paid plans add custom domains and, on Team, members who publish with you.

host0 does the same last step for whatever your agent made, but starts from a different default. On ShipStatic every site is public at its address, and the one lock is a password set when you publish. On host0 a new app is private: only you can open it until you invite people by email, open it to anyone with the link, or make it public on the web. Because the people you invite sign in as themselves, an app can also keep shared data that knows who wrote what.

Who can open the link

host0Better

A new app on host0 is private. Opening the link sends anyone but you to a sign-in page, so a half-finished page, a client deck or an internal dashboard isn't on the open web just because it has a URL.

When it's ready you choose: invite specific people by email, open it to anyone with the link (unlisted, never indexed), or make it public on the web so search engines can find it. Every option is on every plan, and you can change your mind at any time.

Apps are served from host0.app, while your account lives on host0.ai. Keeping uploaded pages on a different domain from the dashboard means a page can't reach the cookies of the site you sign in to.

ShipStatic

On ShipStatic every deployment is public at its own address, and that address is never indexed by search engines. To keep a site to a few people, you set a password when you publish — free on every plan.

A password is one secret for everyone who has it. It can't be edited in place: changing or removing it means publishing the site again, and anyone who had it before can pass it on.

Sharing with a team

host0Better

On host0 you share with people, not with a secret. Type their email addresses; they get an invitation, sign in with a one-time code or Google, and open the app as themselves. Remove someone and their access ends on their next request — nobody else is affected.

The same list decides who counts as a member of the app's data, so the people you invite can add and edit records while everyone else can only read. Each app has one owner today; shared team workspaces aren't there yet.

ShipStatic

ShipStatic's Team plan lets up to 5 people into one account, each signed in as themselves, to publish sites, connect domains and manage deployments together. Removing a member cuts their access at once.

Members are the people who run the sites, not the people who view them. Visitors are told apart only by whether they know the password.

Apps with shared data

host0Better

Ask your agent for a team todo list, a habit tracker or a sign-up sheet, and it can declare collections in an h0.json file next to the page. The app then reads and writes records on its own URL — with no server code, no API key in the page and no database to set up.

Each collection says who can read, add, change or delete, and records can belong to the person who made them. The owner can export everything as JSON at any time.

ShipStatic

ShipStatic hosts static files and nothing else. An app that should remember what people typed needs a backend from somewhere else; ShipStatic's own guide covers pairing a site with Supabase and getting its row-level security right.

Publishing from your agent

host0

Give your agent the host0 skill or the CLI and say "deploy to host0". With no key yet, it shows you a link and a short code; you approve it in your own browser, and the agent gets its key without you typing anything personal into the chat. Redeploys upload only the files that changed.

It works in Claude, claude.ai included, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and any agent that can run a shell command, plus a REST API and a drop zone in the browser. The MCP server manages apps — listing them, sharing, versions, who can open them — but doesn't publish. ChatGPT can't publish to host0 yet: chatgpt.com's code sandbox has no outbound network.

ShipStaticBetter

ShipStatic has the wider set of doors today. One MCP address publishes a site in the agent's next message with no account, no key and nothing to approve, in Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code and others, and a ChatGPT app does the same inside ChatGPT.

Around it: a plugin for Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and Gemini CLI, a skill, an npx CLI, a typed SDK, a GitHub Action with pull-request previews, a VS Code extension and an n8n node. Deploys can carry an idempotency key, so a retried publish doesn't create a second site.

Files, versions and domains

host0

host0 takes a folder or a single file. A PDF, an image or a Markdown file gets its own link; opened in a tab it shows in a host0 viewer with a download button, and ?download returns the original bytes.

Every deploy is a numbered version you can restore in one click, and every app has cookieless analytics. Custom domains aren't available yet; they're coming to Pro.

ShipStatic

ShipStatic serves sites: every deploy needs an index.html at the top, and a lone PDF or image needs a small page that links to it. In return it detects single-page apps and sets up their routing, and a ship.json file adds redirects, rewrites and headers.

Every publish is kept as its own snapshot, and pointing a domain at an earlier one is the rollback. Custom domains come with HTTPS and a setup page you can forward to whoever runs your DNS.

Price and the free plan

host0

host0 has a free plan with no card: private links, email invites, shared data and analytics totals, with a small "Hosted on host0" badge. Pro is $19 a month or $190 a year and removes the badge, raises the limits to 50 MB per file and 10 GB, and keeps 30 days of version history.

ShipStatic

ShipStatic's free plan keeps your last 100 deployments, gives you one name like yoursite.shipstatic.com and lets you put a password on any site, with files up to 20 MB and deploys up to 50 MB. Pro is $4.99 a month or $49.90 a year for 3 custom domains and bigger deploys; Team is $19.99 a month for 5 members and 15 domains.

No plan meters bandwidth or visits, subject to fair use, and if you stop paying your sites keep working at their own addresses.

Questions

Is host0 a ShipStatic alternative?

For sharing what an agent made with specific people, yes — with a different default. host0 apps start private and open to people you invite by email; ShipStatic sites start public and use a password. ShipStatic is still the better pick for publishing with no account, from ChatGPT, or on a custom domain today.

Can I password-protect a page on host0?

host0 doesn't use shared passwords. A private app asks visitors to sign in, and only the emails you invited get in. You can remove one person without changing anything for the rest, which a password can't do.

Can my agent publish to host0 without an account?

No. Every app on host0 has an owner, so the first publish starts a device login: the agent shows a link and a short code, and you approve it in your browser. It takes under a minute and you type nothing personal into the chat.

Can I publish to host0 from ChatGPT?

Not from chatgpt.com yet: its code sandbox can't reach the internet, so the host0 skill can't upload from there. ShipStatic's ChatGPT app can. host0 publishes from Claude, claude.ai included, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and any agent with a shell.

Does host0 support custom domains?

Not yet; they're coming to the Pro plan. Today every app lives on its own address on host0.app, which you can rename to something readable.

Can I move a site from ShipStatic to host0?

Yes. Take the folder you published to ShipStatic — usually dist, build or out — and ask your agent to deploy it to host0, or drop it on the dashboard. The link starts private; invite people or open it when you're ready.
